Managing Notifications Burn-out.

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way for the end-users of the Appian application to adjust the frequency as well as the capability to turn on/off email notifications from the front-end in the long run?

Thanks

Maybe rethinking your notification design might help. Users should only get necessary notifications. Think of a user who works the whole day in the Appian application. Does he need to be notified of each and every new task? Then think of a manager who only has one task a week. What about him?

  • Hi Stefan, that's exactly the reason why I reached out for suggestions.

Configuring the notifications at a user persona/role/group level is manageable, but each individual wanting to change the frequency of the reminders of their interest, is something that I would like to have a best solution designed.

That is exactly what I am talking about. You should not make this an individuals choice. I know that this is what people want, but this is only because of how things where in the past. Your challenge is now, to pick up this doubts and transform this into something new giving people a chance to adapt.

Try to classify roles and groups into 2-3 groups and make sure to nag people only when necessary. And try to limit the number of people notified. Each email will cost around 5 minutes of attention. Make sure this time is well spent.

This is my typical approach ...
