And, what does "suddenly" mean. Something has changed. You need to find out what.
This simple logic never gets old.Things are not deciding that they won't work any more. so something changed in the set-up.Try to trace back, what changed exaclty.

Simple configurations only we have, nothing changed
The following components might have been changed:
- Appian version or hotfixes
- FTP Plugin
- FTP Server
- Java Libraries
- Credentials
- Server side permissions
- Proxy Servers & other middleware
- ...
I would try to start fresh with trying to get access to that FTP server using a separate FTP application. Then, step by step, replicate what is going on in Appian.
