Plug-ins

How can I initiate the SFTP in Appian Designer? Are there any built-in Plugins available like HTTP or Appian RPA to initiate the SFTP? How can I connect AWS with the Process Model in Appian and make the data interactive between them?

Hi all,I've just noticed that the DocCenter plugins in AppMarket are only available in version 4.5.0, which requires Appian 26.9. Unfortunately, I can't download a previous version that is compatible with Appian 26.6.I can open an myAppian support ticket to request the ZIP files associated with DocCenter 4.4.2, but it would be great if previous versions could be downloaded directly from the AppMarket.I'm referring to the following plugins:DocCenter Suite Plugin | Appian AppMarketDocCenter Component Plug-in | Appian AppMarket

Hi everyone, I am looking for some guidance on an Appian requirement and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has implemented something similar. We have ‘Extra Long Text(64000)/Long Text fields(4000)’ where users enter content through the Styled Text Editor component. The entered content is stored in the database with the corresponding HTML tags. We now have a requirement to export this data in a Word document while preserving the formatting exactly as entered by the user. This includes:Bold, italic, underline,.. Tables Paragraphs and other rich text formatting supported by the Styled Text Editor componentThe Word document should ideally retain the original formatting rather than displaying the underlying HTML tags.Current Approach:Currently, we are using [Advanced Document Templating - DOCX Document From Template] smart service plugin to generate the Word document by providing a template along with the data in XML format. However, we must strip the HTML tags from the styled text da

Hello, as the title suggests, I'm currently stuck while setting up the OAuth JWT token.During deployment, I get the following pop-up. If anyone has even the slightest clue that might help me.Thank you in advance. StackAppian v25.3 (On-premises) OAuth JWT Token v3.1.2

Hi Everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from the community on how to learn Appian Custom Plugin development. I have 3.5 years of experience as an Appian developer and am familiar with standard Appian development (SAIL, records, process models, integrations, etc.). However, I have no experience with custom plugin development. I have reviewed the Appian documentation, but I feel like I’m missing a learning path. It’s difficult to figure out: How to start as a beginner What are the actual prerequisites are How to go from developing plugin code to testing in Appian What a good first plugin project should entail I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone who has experience with: A learning path for plugins Examples or GitHub repos for beginners Advice on local Appian development for testing plugins Things you wish you had known when you started Any advice, links, or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

After upgrading SQL To Excel Smart Service to 2.1.6 version, the smart service generates the excel file and preserves the template formatting, but the mapped cell values are missing. We rely on cell key and cell value mapping to populate the data. It was working fine in 1.3.0 version.

I am using the Import Excel to Database plugin along with a Connected System to download Excel files from a client’s Google Drive. Here is the behavior I am observing: When the Excel file is created using Microsoft Excel, the file is downloaded successfully via the Connected System, and the plugin works as expected. All the data present in the Excel file is imported correctly. However, when the Excel file is created in Google Sheets, or when an existing Excel file is opened/edited and saved using Google Sheets, the file is still downloaded successfully, and I can see the complete data in the file. But in this case, the Import Excel to Database plugin treats the file as null and does not return any data. In both cases, the file extension is .xlsx. Is this a known limitation of the Import Excel to Database plugin when handling .xlsx files generated or modified by Google Sheets? If so, is there any workaround or recommended approach to handle Excel files comi

We are refactoring reports to replace the deprecated Export to Excel plugin. The export output relies on a shared base export template. We need to identify the best replacement approach that preserves the existing output format. Any suggestions?

I tested the option to create test cases in an expression rule using Appian DEV MCP. The test case output type should be “Any Type” and the expected value is a Map.I identified multiple issues:The AI agent (Claude) executed createExpressionRuleTestCase and updateExpressionRuleTestCase tools - the expectedOutputType was saved as Expression. When I look at the test in Designer it is displayed as on picture below. The test fails in designer. I can click on the Clear link (next to the value) to reset the value. When I paste the value displayed here, it is accepted by Appian designer as valid and the test pass. runAllExpressionRuleTestCases fails correct Any Type tests with EXPECTED_OUTPUT_TYPE.I created a test case manually in designer (and it pass). When AI agent executed runAllExpressionRuleTestCase, the MCP reported the test case as failed. This is the line from the run:"name": "Test case 4: Map","success": false,"testErrors": [{"type": "EXPECTED_OUTPUT_TYPE", "details": "T

Need to create a UI, where I want to have 1 column for editable fields and other column shall have a document (pdf). When user is filling the fields in 1st column. Then field in the document on 2nd column gets highlighted. Planning to use reconcileDocumentViewer component (not using any AI feature at the moment). Can anyone help how and what to pass in the boundingboxes parameter or if this is even feasible.

Hi Everyone,I have configured my Claude account with Appian Dev MCP in my Appian environment. I’m now able to create, update, read, and delete applications and their objects using natural language through Claude.I would like to understand how these Dev MCP interactions are audited in the Appian environment.Currently, I can see that the Design Object Logs capture object creations and modifications performed through MCP, along with manual changes made through the Appian Designer.System Logs --> audit/  --> design_objects.csvIs there a separate log or audit mechanism specifically for tracking Dev MCP interactions? If so, could someone please point me to where I can access or configure these logs? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi All,I am using the ganttChart component plugin (v1.0.0 by Low Code Minds) and facing an issue with tasksSaveInto it does not fire when a user drags a task bar on the chart. What I am trying to achieve:When a user drags a task bar to a new date range on the Gantt chart, I want the updated start/end dates to be saved back to the database and reflected in the grid. What I have done:1. Added tasksSaveInto to the ganttChart component (confirmed via Appian IDE tooltip that tasksSaveInto is a valid parameter)2. Set isDisabled: false on every task in the tasks array3. Set disabled: false on the ganttChart component itself4. Tested with both task bars and milestone barsDebug test:I replaced my entire tasksSaveInto handler with a simple test:tasksSaveInto: a!save(local!errorVar, "Drag detected!")When I drag any task bar on the chart, the bar moves visually on the Gantt but the save handler never fires — no error banner appears. The visual drag is purely cosmetic and resets on page refresh. My ga

Hi Everyone, I am facing an issue with isUserPasswordValid() of the Credential Management plugin. It’s not working for me and is always returning false, even for a valid username and password. Is it working for anyone else? I am using an Appian Cloud environment. Please share your inputs. Thanks!

Hi everyone,I am currently using the Excel Tools Plugin (v2.8.2) and encountering unpredictable loading issues caused by the length of incoming excel cell values. Our Setup & Scenario:Data Volume: 140 columns and approximately 10,000 rows. Database: Staging table columns are already configured with large text lengths. Process Flow: Convert Excel to CSV using the "Excel to CSV" smart service (Processes successfully). Import CSV to Database using the "Import CSV to Database" smart service. The Issue:During step 2, the process fails with the error message: "Error executing SQL". Upon investigation, we found the root cause is hidden trailing whitespace. For example, some cells contain a short text value followed by up to 5,000 trailing spaces, causing the total string length to exceed the database column limits. My Questions:Does the "Import CSV to Database" smart service have a built-in configuration to automatically trim trailing/leading whitespaces from cell values during processi

We're integrating the Esri Map component (esriMapMarkerField) from Esri plugin with Appian, connected via an OAuth 2.0 "Other application" (client credentials) connected system pointing to ArcGIS Online. The map itself renders correctly — basemaps, drawing tools, and geometry capture all work as expected. However, the built-in address Search box fails, throwing these console errors from esri.widgets.Search.SearchViewModel:suggest:no-sources-defined — "At least one source is required."search:no-sources-defined — "At least one source is required."Troubleshooting so far:Confirmed our ArcGIS org has the World Geocoding Service properly assigned under Utility Services. Confirmed our OAuth Client ID/Secret generate valid tokens (tested independently via Postman, including successful calls to findAddressCandidates). Initially found the widget's internal sharing/rest/portals/self call (used to auto-discover the org's default geocode source) was returning 498 Invalid Token, despite the token wo

I am using the Export SQL To Excel smart service (plug-in) and need to have a link to the summary view in the excel sheet generated by the smart service for all the respective values in the "Record ID" column. How to implement this?

Is there a plugin in Appian that can update existing excel template without losing validation in excel

We're using the Esri Map component (esriMapMarkerField) from the plugin in Appian, integrated via an OAuth 2.0 "Other application" (client credentials) connected system pointing to ArcGIS Online. The map renders correctly with basemaps and drawing tools working fine, but the built-in address Search box fails with esri.widgets.Search.SearchViewModel console errors: suggest:no-sources-defined and search:no-sources-defined ("At least one source is required"). We confirmed the ArcGIS org has the World Geocoding Service properly assigned under Utility Services, and independently verified our Client ID/Secret generate a valid access token (tested via Appian's connected system "Test Connection" and manually via Postman). However, when the Search widget internally calls sharing/rest/portals/self to discover the org's default geocode source, the request returns a 498 Invalid token error — despite the token being valid when tested directly — suggesting the plugin isn't correctly attaching/propag

Using Appian 24.1.  I have created a custom plugin.Let’s call the plug com.appiancorp.plugins.RaysClass.If I use log.error(“RAYS ERROR”), the entries are written to the tomcat log file.If I use log.debug(“RAYS DEBUG”) statements, those entries are NOT written.I have tried adding log4j.logger.com.appiancorp.plugins.RaysClass=DEBUG to the bottom of the appian_log4j.properties file.  Still no debug statements. If I add log4j.logger.com.appian=DEBUG, as soon as I save the file, I get a bunch of debug statements in the log.I still don’t see “RAYS DEBUG” in the log file. What must I do to write debug statements from a custom plugin to the tomcat log file?

My use case is I have a large PDF that is essentially a bunch of smaller PDFs stitched together. Each smaller PDF has a dynamic number of pages, and they’re split by a separator page, so a human can tell when an individual document starts. I know there’s a PDF Tools plug in, but it doesn’t seem like there’s functionality to split by a separator page or something similar - it’s all by a specified page range or by number of pages in a document. The best thing I can think of right now is to use AI or something to find out where the separator pages are, the page ranges of the individual documents are, and loop through the large document until the end, but that sounds like it might be complicated and I’m wondering if there’s a simpler solution? Thank you in advance!
