I am generating multiple pdfs from html asynchronously. After all pdf are generated I am merging them using the merge pdf plugin. Is there a way to provide the page number after merging or while merging pdfs?

Yes, its possible with PDF tools.
Get the page count using the Get PDF metadata function and then simply put the page number at the appropriate coordinates and page using the Create PDF Content Smart Service.
