When I am trying to fetch the id of the quick task using getqtidfordescription, its giving following exception
ERROR:Work item cancelled (Data Outputs)
Any pointers would be really helpful.

Check the application server log for errors. Also, make sure that the quick task is available at the time the expression is executed - you may be running into a race condition where the QT is not yet initialized at the time the expression runs.
