Concerning the Download DataSubset Plugin, can someone please explain why cloud customers are instructed to use getdatasubsetdownloadlinkfromprocess(), while on-premise customers are supposed to use getdatasubsetdownloadlinkfromrule()? My company's installation is currently on-premise, but if we move to a cloud installation will I need to change all my interfaces that use getdatasubsetdownloadlinkfromrule()?

Looking at the source code I see that the one for On-Premise is using private APIs (com.appiancorp.core.*). Since private APIs are subject to change without previous notice, we discourage their use in Cloud environments to guarantee the components will continue to work across versions/upgrades.

Thanks, Eduardo. Do you know if there are any plans to introduce this kind of Excel export functionality in a future release so that a plug-in would no longer be required?

That's correct. The initial phase of this feature is the template to export data to CSV that comes with the interface designer when you click "Create New Interface"

Ooh, that's interesting. Was that feature released with 16.1?

I'm interested in this as well. Has this feature been roadmapped for an upcoming release yet, or is it still just part of the product backlog?

The template is being there for a while, since the introduction of the Web API in 7.9

I don't see any template to export data to CSV, Eduardo. I've looked for it when creating a new interface from both the /designer and /design environments. Perhaps you could give more detailed instructions. I'm on 7.11.

My bad, just navigate to /suite/design/webapi and you'll the template there. See attached web_api_templates.png.

Wow, this is a much cleaner way to do exports. Thanks so much, Eduardo. Tip for all: if you're exporting a list of text data that may contain commas, wrap each item in the list in double quotes to ensure that all of the text in that list stays in a single column.
