Please find the exception message in the log file and post the same here so that we can understand more accurately about cause of this exception.

This issue might be raised when you are trying to read the file by using "fileinputstream". Please follow the below thread to resolve this issue.

@vinodb I am not using "fileinputstream" instead of that I am using "BufferedReader" and "FileReader" in my java code but still the error persists. I am attaching the log file.

On a quick go through with the file, I haven't found any exception message related to this issue. Please post the exact exception message which is thrown from your code(assuming that you are using Logger class to log the exception in log file and used the code like LOG.error(e) or any in catch block) or post the correct log file.

Actually the problem is I have declared one parameter of type document in expression function for creating an Appian plug-in but whenever I am calling the same function in expression rule and passing any file as a parameter its giving error: "Expression evaluation error at function 'hashcode': Error evaluating function 'hashcode' : (Result too large)". I am attaching the code snippet. Could you please go through the code and also I would like to know from where would I will be able to find the log file you need?

1. You are passing Appian document directly to the FileReader, which accepts only type of java.io.File.
2. Please use ContentService class to play with the any document in Appian.
3. Make use of exception handling with try,catch blocks in your code. so that your exceptions will be handled correctly.
4. Use the Logger class object to log the exception messages in log file.
5. The BufferedReader object should be closed after completion of reading the file. Use r.close() at the end or finally block.
otherwiise it will cause the (Result too large) issue

                              Please take the reference from other plugins, which are related to the documents. It will be helpful to you to get out of the initial Appian document usage issues.

May be your attachment is missed so we are unable to download the Log file. Anyway, we will not find any exception messages in the log file because you are not using the logger object.

@vinodb I tried the above code. Now no error persists but its giving the value as "0". I am attaching the code snippet as well as the screenshot.

Please debug the code by printing the values in LOG file. Try to use like LOG.info(<Value to be print>);

Please use try, catch blocks instead of using "throws Exception" at class level. So that we can catch the exception messages and print it in LOG file by using LOG object.
In the mean time, I will try to debug the code and let you know.

If we choose function output type is an integer and multiple then the Long[] type will be the return object from the java method.
