Hello, We have developed a custom plugin to convert a document to bin

Hello,
We have developed a custom plugin to convert a document to binary format, That plugin works fine for the document of 1MB in Appian, But when we upload a 3 to 4 MB of document and convert it using the plugin, then it does not give any output, Also in log file we did not observe anything.
We have tried converting a document with that jar code in eclipse and it works fine. Can anyone let us know the reason which is is preventing appian to convert 3 to 4 MB Of document to binary format.
Regards,
Sandeep.

Could you verify by looking into process report and look for value in process variable tab. Sometimes your process instance properties (in the process modeler)doesn't display the large values.
Go to Designer > Processes > Click on process instance (in report) > Process Variables

I think data is there but due to large data, when I click on edit, it took almost 10 min to display
data length is somewhere around: 9668438

Yes, Appian stores the data, however it is displayed slowly due to its length.

In this wasy, I am assuming it will impact the Appian Performance, As I need to store this data in the database, and it is not storing the complete binary data. Is there any work around for this.

It depends on your requirement of converting document to binary. You may try storing documents in Appian KC and create its pointer (document ID) in database, or create a BLOB in database which can save large object value.
Hope it helps!

You are not trying to store the result of the conversion as a text variable are you? That would be a big problem that'll increase memory footprint in your environment.

... definitely I suggest you follow the advice from the other user and within your plug-in you store directly that into a BLOB in the DB. Never store large strings in process variables.

Eduardo, But I have investiagted, MS SQLS erver do not have a BLOB type. FOr this DB, how can we handle it, Because currently the challenge here is 4MB Of converted data is not being completly stored in Varbinary format of MS SQL Server. DO we have BLOB in MS SQL Server.
