Hello,

What should be the best practice in managing process model medications and impact to older version process instances? for example, change in database tables and CDT/Query Rules...

Running process instances will not be updated if you are to make changes. These instances will continue to run on the version of the cdt/variable which was in place at the time it was started.

If you need to update running processes, then you can consider creating a custom smart service plugin using the process upgrade API's:
