Hi all,
Recently i got to know that process will be referring latest published process model data management settings. But when i tried the below scenario, it didn't work as expected.
1. Set 3 days archival in PM
2. Triggered and completed the process for that version(its showing in monitoring as archival is 3 days)
3. Set 0 days archival in PM and published it
I expected the process will get archived as per documentation but it didn't happen.
Did i misunderstand what it is mentioned in documentation? Or am i doing something wrong here?(My friend tried the same and it was working for him as mentioned in documentation)

This has always worked per your understanding, changing a process model archival setting will immediately affect completed processes in memory. Can you share screen shots of your archive settings and process instance(s)?
Vaishal , please check whether the process model got published correctly...
Chris vinaykumar Please Find below testing screenshots
1. PM with 3 days archival(Version 20)
2. Triggered an instance for that version
3. Changed Archival to 0 and published the PM(version 21)
4.Previous version process is still there
Please share the archival configuration SS and the instances that you are seeing post the configurations.
This is not as expected but I am seeing the same in my 24.1 environment. Start/complete a process with archive set to 30 days, re-publish with archive set to 0 days, completed process does not become archived. I'm wondering if the 0 days acts differently than a positive day #? I'll update my test process on Monday to 1 day, to see if that takes effect.
You mentioned this worked as expected for your friend? Any difference in Appian environment/version, etc?
Documentation for reference: https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/24.1/process-model-object.html#data-management-tab
"By default, the process is automatically archived after 7 days. Setting one of these configurations to 0 as an interval will immediately archive or delete the instance after completion. Any changes made on this form are applied to all instances of the process model, including ones already completed. Subprocesses do not inherit this setting."
Not working as expected! Appian 24.1.
ThanksChris for trying this out.
We both tried in 24.2 version. For him, 0 worked as mentioned in documentation(Process got archived instantaneously). Will update here if i found any difference in our method.
