Hi,
I am trying to generate a pdf document from the 'PDF Doc from Template' smart service. In the setup tab of the smart service, when I am providing the name of the pdf template which needs to be scanned, it is not able to detect the place holders.
my pdf template will be scanned for substitution keys starting with “###” and ending with “###”.
However, it is not able to scan it.
Any reasons why?
Thanks...

If it is on premise you dont need appian review process. we have wrote multiple plugins at my client and use them On Premise. I did have issues with even MS WORD in scanning , I recreated twice it worked. but really not much difference.

@achaugule: I have created a pdf form using the link you provided http://www.pdfescape.com/open. However most of the fields in my form should be of type 'Paragraph'. However it only has 'Text' type field. As a result of which, if my text exceeds the length of specified textbox in form, scroll bar appears. Just want to know if there is any way we can create paragraph type fields just as we do in our Appian forms so that data length is dynamically rendered in it??
Thanks in advance

@srinivasank: I am using Adobe Livecycle Designer tool to create pdf forms so that I can use them as a template in PDF doc template smart service.
It allows us to save form in two formats:
1) Static pdf form
2) dyanamic xml form.
I am trying to save the form in both the formats. But when I upload it on appian and use it as a template in the smart service, the smart service is not able to scan the text fields in it.
Any reason why is it happening??

pdfescape.com works fine,. to create template and use in appian. tested and works. As some one said in the chain its not ###, it has to be Form Field. What version of Adobe Livecyle designer are you using?

Siddharth, the pdfescape can have para's - right click the text box, Object Properties , enable multi line. and you can have para. I just tested and works. I could upload screenshots somewhere but all googledocs, box ,skydrive are all blocked at my work :)

@rayduda: Yes, I enabled the multi line of the text box in object properties. However, my concern is while designing a template, we draw the text box and in its properties, we enable multi line. That's fine. But now when it is used in the smart service and data is populated in this text from pv and if the length of the text is larger then the size of the text box we drawn in template, then in generated pdf scroll bar appears on clicking that text box. So is there a way where we can avoid scroll bar and size of text box automatically fits according to the length of the text which will be rendered in that text box??

For generation free form PDF documents I developed a plugin which renders HTML to PDF. Look for itext, XMLWorker and htmlcleaner. HTML can be generated using a template ("textfromtemplate") or by building a model which concatenates some HTML or a combination of both.

@skumar, Sorry i will not be able to answer that. I am not sure if that is supported by the pdf template to automatically adjust the size/height of the textbox.
