The swim lanes have disappeared on a model I have been working on and the connectors have switched from straight to angled connectors for all versions of the model.
Using IE 10 and moved to Appian 7.11 a few weeks ago.
Does anyone have any idea why this has happened and how I can correct it please?

@suem Have you had a chance to explore the forum? If not, I would like to suggest to do so as you can find some posts explaining the root cause and solution. For instance, the suggestions made by @Eduardo in the posts at /search?q=OriginalPostID-98112 and /search?q=OriginalPostID-24479 should give you leads as per my knowledge.

Hi Sikhi,
We have had some CDT changes so that makes sense. I'll ask them to do an impact analysis.
Thanks for your help

@suem No problem.
If I am not wrong, we might not experience this problem (at-least in case of non-existing data types) from 16.1, as the AN-39503 at https://forum.appian.com/suite/help/16.1/Appian_Release_Notes.html#Resolved_Issues says that 'A process model now correctly loads all swim lanes, connectors, and annotations even if the model references a deleted type with no active versions.'

I think this relates to a bug, fixed in 16.1, which is caused by deleting a cdt. This happened to us and we had to recreate the model from scratch.

Another useful link if you're still on 7.11
forum.appian.com/.../kb-1001.html
Another thing to keep in mind is that the application-server.log should have the relevant ERROR related to this issue. Looking at its Caused by clause will tell you if this is indeed the issue (CDT) or if you didn't copy the entire _admin\\models folder when upgrading to 7.11 and now the XML for this model is missing; the XML on disk is what stores the swim lanes, annotations and position of connectors which is then merged for displaying purposes with what the process design engine has stored.

Thanks guys. I did try looking at the application-server.log but it looks like that is no longer in use - a colleague found the message in jboss1-stdOut.log but the error appeared about two hours after he deleted the CDT. He doesn’t think he took that long to publish the new datastore so any ideas why there was such a delay?

Let's take a look at the error in jboss1-stdOut.log when opening this model. There should be one.

The log did contain the error mentioned in the post above, namely "ERROR com.appiancorp.process.execution.service.ProcessExecutionServiceFacade - An error occurred retrieving the model from the filesystem. AppianException: Invalid Type: null (APNX-1-4047-000) “ etc.
I have since re-created the model and it now looks ok.
Thanks everyone for the help.

That error indicates the issue was with a deleted CDT. Therefore the steps from
forum.appian.com/.../kb-1001.html
apply.
