What is Appian or other practitioner experience / recommendations to build basic features in Appian site other than task report / grid?

To my knolwedge the sites capabilities are, for now, limited to Task Reports. See forum.appian.com/.../Sites.html

As you know "Task Reports" as Eduardo mentioned are just a page of SAIL.. They key behavior enabled in Sites with Task Reports is the drill activity to a task, completion of the task, and taking the user back to the task report page..

If you desired page is still just a page of SAIL but without drill behavior to Tasks or any other objects, (such as: Actions, Records, News, etc..) You will find that page works just fine in a Site.. For now, if you want to get a bit fancier, you could employ the Start Process Writer custom plugin, that would allow you to initiate a process from a Site as well.. once the process started, tasks may be referenced that keep the UX in Sites..

This option will not work for us because we are expecting the user to key-in required business data via activity chaining in forms before to submit the request. Is there a plan to include Action trigger and other features in Task report in future releases.

The Start Process Writer plugin is an action trigger.. available today..

Any of the SAIL forms in a chain may have a Start Process Writer to trigger an action..

Also, unless you need to chain over unattended nodes, it is best practice not to use Activity Chaining for form flows.. It is best practice to create 1 dynamic SAIL interaction that steps the user through screens.

We have few unattended notes to get data from external systems since we are using activity chaining. I know action trigger is trigger process asynchronously in any SAIL page via bind. Are you saying it will show chained tasks if we use Start Process writer plug-in? Could you please elaborate this point. Ah.. I see.. no.. Start Process Writer would not chain..

I thought you were implying a chain from a task that would also initiate another process.

I can only recommend that you see if you can eliminate the need to use activity chaining..
