How best to debug issues in rules

Question

What would be the best way to debug issues in Rules? We are dealing with a long hierarchy of rules and it is bit daunting to locate issues. These are called from a script task. Is there a way to write to logs from within Rules?

You can break your whole rule code in different sections and test the whole rule by using one portion at a time. Let's say, at once you can comment your whole code and then uncomment it section by section. In that way you will come to know which part if the code is erroneous.
