Is there a way to retrieve the name of a cdt from only having a data store entity constant? assume the name of the constant and cdt cannot be changed, and may not be the same.

You are asking some interesting questions lately. I don't think this is possible OOTB. Maybe you want to elaborate on your use cases, experiance with Appian and other plattforms.

Use case is to allow and end user to be able to configure their own charts. they should be able to select an application, and that will then go to a plug-in that will return all data store entity constants. The user should then be able to select a data store, and choose which fields from the associated cdt they want their charts to be drillable on.

OK. But why do you want to build that to be dynamic? How do you implement permissions? Aren't this charts very app specific? Do you want to build something like a business warehouse?

the charts will be converted to excel and download/email-able. I want to be able to cut the designer out of the equation. As it stands, a designer can configure these charts for a user, but I want to user to be able to configure them for themselves. So far, a designer can hardcode the fields that the user can choose from to drill.

OK. I understand. Still not sure that this is a good idea. You could use/create a plugin to search for constants with a certain naming convention. These constants are of type data store entity and each app has to create one or more. Then do a single query to a selected entity. This will return some data and the data structure and field names etc. Then you could show this to the user.
This is just an idea. I hope you understand it.
