In Appian basic user does not have permission to view other user's propertie

In Appian basic user does not have permission to view other user's properties.
We are using function user(<username>,"email"), to retrieve emailID for receiver and sending him an email. But some users of application are basic users and when they login, initiate application flow, user(<username>,"email"), returns null and sending email tor receiver is failing.

Is there any alternative for this, where any user can retrieve emailID for other user using username ..even if he/she is basic user.
