today I tried exporting a report with chinese contents, where some columns would display the input chinese text, and some columns displayed date and time would contain "??morning" or "??afternoon" which is equivalent of "a.m" and "p.m" in english..
the problem is that the input chinese characters are fine when we export the report xls file but the Appian report generated chinese characters are displayed as symbols and some gibberish words and numbers...

Does this behavior happen even when trying to import into the same environment?

Unfortunately, yes.
I tried importing a form which was created with Appian 6.7.1 and everything is fine. Apparently it's something to do with form designer or even the encoding of chinese characters in Appian 7.3 and 7.4.

It seems the problem occurs when exporting, probably something to do with encoding.

Could you attach screenshots of how you have the form configured, and how the characters improperly display themselves?

To clarify, are you exporting/importing just the form? Or the entire process model as part of an application?

Try exporting it as a process model as part of an application and see if that helps
