Question about customer picker field

You can use paginginfo with batchsize of 20 in suggestionfunction you define.
So if you are searching against a list of 1000 convert the searched data todatasubset by applying paginginfo to it.

@sagarl511 Tried that, the problem is the paginginfo is applied on the first keypress which result in subsequent keypress returns no suggestion instead of data with higher accuracy. e.g. I have a query rule which returns the list of names, in which I apply pagingInfo to it with a batchsize of 20 and sort by name, when i typed in "a", it does return 20 name suggestion that start with "a" but when i typed in another character "v", instead of returning 20 suggestion start with "av", it returns an empty suggestion list.

Please post your SAIL code. I have some ideas, but without having a look at your code it is hard to make any suggestions.

The problem is that as you do the query inside load() it will only be executed once. You have to add a with() statement, create a local variable there and store the query results in there. Check the page below for what load() and with() are doing.

@stefanh791 Wouldn't it still yield the same result? As the result of the query would still be limited by the pagingInfo to only show 20 first result in which if, say, the result of the query which contains "at" is the query 21st result, then the picker will still return an empty array as the list of suggestion.

In situations when I am not sure about my data I try to make it visible. For example I use a instructions attribute of a field to show it. So if you add "instructions: local!data" you can see what is loaded.

You can't use the first 20 records that you are bringing in the local!data as the Source. You either all records in the load variable or query the DB directly in the Suggest function. If you have large number of records in the table then I'd discourage you from bringing all the data in the load variable, instead you should query the DB with filters. Hope this helps.

@erick258 - As suggested by @prosenjitd you have to write expression in suggestion function which will return data from database based on the filter entered by user.
For e.g - your ucArrayPickerFilter will contain following code snippet, Input parameters will be filter which will be value or _ from arraypicker -

In your current code the suggestion function was trying to search for matching filter in 20 records which were already loaded in the local variable. You have to fetch data as user enters characters.

If the data that you are trying to use in suggestion function is less you can just change local paging info to

local!pagingInfo:a!pagingInfo(1,-1) - which will fetch all the records and filter on it and your code will work fine.
