Program Policies

To stay up to date with all policies, you must keep your contact information updated in Appian Community so that you receive important updates to the program.

Cancellation Policy

Exam appointments may be canceled or rescheduled through Examity. Canceling or rescheduling an exam less than 24 hours before the appointment will result in a cancellation fee of $25. This will be charged to your credit card. If you do not appear for your exam without rescheduling or canceling your exam fee or voucher will not be refunded.

Exam Review Policy

All Appian exams are proctored and audited for security review. An exam will be flagged if a test taker violates any rules set forth at the start of the exam or in violation of the Appian Candidate Agreement. If an exam is flagged for a security review and the test taker was found to be in violation of exam rules, the individual will be notified that their exam was flagged. Based on a review of the exam Appian may require an individual to retest and may revoke a certification granted in accordance with section two (2) of the candidate agreement.

Fraudulent Activity Policy

Appian reserves the right to take action against any candidate involved in fraudulent activities, including, but not limited to, fraudulent use of vouchers, cheating on an exam, alteration of score reports, alteration of certificates, violation of exam retake policies or other activities deemed fraudulent by Appian or in violation of Appian policies.

Appian considers any contributions to, use of, or sharing of Appian exam content on third party (“brain dumps”) or internal sites to be a violation of this policy. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that all materials they purchase or use to prepare for exams are not violations of this Fraudulent Activity Policy.

If Appian determines that fraudulent activity has taken place, we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to, removal of a candidate's certification, a temporary or permanent ban of a candidate from the Appian certification program, and notification to a candidate's employer.

Maintenance Policy

Failure to complete training will result in an expired certification.

Expiration dates will not be extended and expired certifications cannot be reinstated. To become Appian certified again you will need to retest at the lowest level. Preparing for an Exam

It’s important to recognize that Appian training and practical application of knowledge are an integral part of exam success. While specific preparation resources vary across exams, there are some tips for preparation that will help you regardless of the exam.

Carefully review the exam objectives covered by the exam. Use the objectives as a checklist to identify skills gaps which will help focus preparation. Get hands-on practice. There is so much to learn but putting knowledge to practice is key. Take the time to review best practices and applied knowledge.

Individuals should leverage available training as well as Appian documentation and Appian Max content to fully prepare for their exam.

Taking an Exam

Appian delivers our exams via Examity’s secure testing platform using remote proctors. This process provides online flexibility for our candidates with the proctored environment that ensures our certifications are valid and reliable.

Before Your Exam
- Prior to your exam appointment you will want to complete your Examity user profile and perform a system check through Examity to ensure your exam will run smoothly.
- Confirm your selected time zone is accurate.

Day of Your Exam
- Ensure you have: A computer with a webcam, a reliable internet connection, pop-up blockers disabled, and a quiet space where you are not interrupted during the testing process. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Please review all Exam Rules prior to your exam.

During Your Exam
- The admission process requires the test-taker provide government-issued identification that includes a photo and a name matching the registration. Failure to register under the name registered to the Appian Community profile may result in inability to proceed with an exam and a forfeiture of exam fees.
- The proctor will verify your identity, virtually inspect your physical workspace and virtual environment and will monitor you throughout the exam. At the close of the exam, the proctor will do a final security verification.

After Your Exam
Perform all post exam instructions, including emailing a copy of your score report to your preferred email address.

Testing Accommodations

We can offer accommodations for candidates with a disability or language barrier, allowing additional time on an exam to read, review, and respond to questions.

All accommodations must be requested from certifications@appian.com after the exam appointment is scheduled. Please allow a minimum of two (2) business days for the accommodation to be put in place.

Sharing your Achievements

Earning your Appian certification is an industry recognized validation of your skills and shows your commitment to maintaining your Appian expertise. You’ve earned it, now share it! Learn more about sharing your badge.
