Send Email smart service

Just a general suggestion: when the error message in an Alert isn't detailed enough (as seems to be the case here), you can often find more detail behind the error message in the Appian server logs instead.

Are you able to find any common similarities with the emails? Aka in cases of failure are there special characters being used? Different languages?

I've never had that happen before in any of my environments - any email failure i've had has been able to be traced down to a problem in the process model (or something related, like invalid address, message content, etc). I haven't seen intermittent failure like that.

Question: if you send the same email over and over, with the exact same inputs (and maybe just by re-triggering the node within the same process instance), will it ever act differently? Or are the failures in different instances from the successes? I ask this because if you can demonstrate that the email sending sometimes fails and sometimes works with the *exact* same inputs, you might have cause to escalate to Appian support.

toemailrecipient(toemailaddress(pv!emailid))

Hi Kenneth, thanks for your reply. So far I have not been able to identify similarities and it's difficult to know as they always triggered by processes being completed by other users. I always verify the email values are valid with no random characters etc. so that's probably not the issue. I'll keep hunting!

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. I will try to retrigger the node in that instance a few times to see if it changes, but I don't think that's the problem. I'm just having trouble identifying the exact input that might cause the problem since all I can think to check is that the email is valid, which they usually are. If I see any differences like you described I will contact Appian support as necessary. Thanks!!
