jBoss Startup Time

Hi All,
We installed the 16.1 Hotfix E package on a client production environment yesterday. When starting jBoss up it took FOREVER to start up - we must have tried starting the service at least 10 times! We had to raise a call with Appian support to get this investigated where we then had to set the time out to 3 hours. It eventually worked.
The installation is on premise with a web/app server, kdb server and a sql server all virtual with fairly decent spec for the volume of processing and users.
Interestingly we have had performance issues with the software which we have been trying to investigate with support. We have found some slow records etc through the health check but nothing that causes some of the issues the users see.
For example, they complaint of sluggish navigation around the Appian interfaces, and this is between tabs - News, Tasks, Records, Reports and Actions, not clicking in to a task...

... or a record. In once instance though, a user complaints a record took 29 seconds to load - wouldn't it have timed out if it was down to web service calls or queries??
Just throwing it out there to see if anyone has any experience of similar performance issues or pointers on further investigation, we have exhausted all Appian related issues but there seems to be a lot going on with this environment.
Thanks!

There is a wide range of possible causes of performance issues in an environment. I would suggest continuing to work with Support to identify the root cause(s). Otherwise, it may help to check out some of this documentation if you have not seen it already:

When installing a hotfix, the most important step is to ensure the environment is check pointed while being stopped gracefully, if not this can cause issue when restarting the environment.

I would make sure you're looking at each engine's performance individually. The server may have plenty of resources overall, but one engine being bogged down can affect the stability of the whole system. Feel free to contact me offline - jschweitzer@visionpointsystems.com
