Hi Forum
I have been trying to configure Appian to receive emails. I was successful yesterday in doing so, but I have noticed that the jboss server log files have grown to a massive size since yesterday. Could someone please explain to me why this could be happening and how to rectify this? Many thanks...

I also notice that Appian is creating a monstrous amount of mail-listener.logs. It's created about 600 of these files in the space of 5 hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Apologies, not a space of 5 hours, it was rather over a space of 2 days. This is still quite an amount of log files, over 6 gb at the moment

Do you see a recurring message within the logs? Are these messages categorized as [INFO], [WARN], [ERROR], or [DEBUG]?

You may consider putting in your standalone.xml a size-rotating-file-handler to make the server.log roll over at a certain size. It looks like yours is rolling over daily and if you have lots of traffic in one day that may make the log grow very large.

Hi Tim
In my Application server logs I see the following recurring error
ERROR com.appiancorp.mdb.EmailHandlerBean - Error receiving message in EmailHandlerBean MDB
javax.mail.MessagingException: Message could not be sent;
Caused by: com.appiancorp.messaging.ProcessRouteMissingException: APNX-1-8001-001: No Process Routing Information Provided: Needs one of DestinationEventPersistentID, DestinationProcessID, DestinationPMID, DestinationPMUUID
This doesn't make much sense since the only process model UUID that I have receiving emails has been added to the custom properties file already.
What other logs should I be checking?
This is worrying because I'm having to shut down Appian daily now to clear the JBOSS server logs to clear up space again.

Have you've setup a routing alias?
forum.appian.com/.../Mail_Server_Setup.html
Messages without routing information such as the routing keys will default to the alias, if the alias is not provided, then you will likely see this ERROR. Also check that the application server has been restarted to deploy the custom.properties file after making changes.

Hi Tim
Using the example in the documentation, let's say I define the process model to target as so...
conf.mailhandler.alias.HelpDeskRequest=processmodeluuid0004cedf-a045-8000-234b-c0a8031014c0
...with HelpDeskRequest being the alias. What file/where would I need to link the alias (HelpDeskRequest) to the email address (HelpDeskRequest@mydomain.topdomain)
As stated, I am able to receive emails into Appian, so it is strange that this error is still appearing in the log files

Hi Lincoln,
Can you please check in inbox of HelpDeskRequest@mydomain.topdomain for emails from the same address(HelpDeskRequest@mydomain.topdomain).
If there is such emails try deleting it from inbox or backup it to other folders.
