Hi All,
I have a scenario like I am able to do the work using the Servlet and later I was able do the same work using a!startProcessWriter function.
Will there be any performance Impact,
Also which is the better way .

@harshav Hi, do you mean to say that you already have a plugin in place which already does the same job as a!startProcess() does? I would personally prefer to OOTB over the plugin as we don't need to worry in case of upgrades of the instance and deprecations in the API. To the best of my knowledge, OOTB feature might have upper hand in terms of performance mostly over a custom built plugin. Further I hope that, it's not a!startProcessWriter but it's a!startProcess.

yeah sikhivahans, I am using the function fn!startprocesswrite , which I think would do the same job as a!startProcess as well, Thanks for the inputs

@harshav Ah I see, earlier you mentioned that you are making use of a!startProcessWriter and I am slightly confused with a! context as it indicates a OOTB function. If a!startProcess is available, afaik, it is going to be the best option for you over the Servlet you have or fn!startprocesswrite Shared Component.

Yeah I can agree on that point @sikhivahans, But not sure that a!startProcess is available in 7.4, But out of Using Servlet and fn!startprocesswrite which is better, Any thoughts, pls

@harshav So a!startProcess() is available from 16.2 and so you can discard this from options list.
And when you compare the Servlet and fn!startprocesswrite(), it might be worth making use of fn!startprocesswrite() as per my knowledge. If you are working with Appian Cloud, Appian would be able to assist you just in case if there is a problem with the plugin. Further I am not sure about how you will make use of Servlet if you would like to trigger a process from SAIL interface, but fn!startprocesswrite() will greatly aid you in doing so. Coming to performance, as both the components aren't OOTB we may need to proceed with keeping an eye on the execution times.
