I want to end the process automatically, if no work is going on for an hour after the process start.
I thought "deadline" would play such role in the process model, but the process continues even after I set the one hour deadline.
Please let me know if there is a way to end the process automatically, after no work is going on for an hour after the process start.
Or if the deadline is the right way, I may have done something wrong with the setting, so please give example to follow.
Thank you in advance.

"Deadline" in a process model is to set the target date time for process completion. It is majorly used for reporting purposes like to get the number of processes that have passed the target deadline. numoverdueprocessesforprocessmodel() - This function will return such process data.
Coming to your actual requirement, I have a question here. Where will the process halt after it starts? Whether it is on a User Input task (or) some other node? Some nodes allow Exception configuration where you can set the timer & connect the exception path to the end node to end the process.docs.appian.com/.../Process_Node_and_Smart_Service_Properties.html
Hi Dreamwise,In PM you can add timer event to User Task in exception configuration and configure the time to end process automatically after certain time.Ex:
As an addendum to this...note that a process model may have multiple concurrent threads running, each with its own end node. The example provided will only terminate the current thread. If that's the ONLY thread then all is good, the process will also terminate. But if you want to terminate an entire process, even if there are other threads still running, then you need to make your end node a 'Terminate' node. This will kill the entire process, even if other activity/threads are still in flight.
Also keep in mind you can use an AND gateway to split the model at the very beginning, leaving one fork to a timer event that goes off in one hour, and another that leads to all of the process functionality. That way, if you have multiple user input tasks, the process still has only 1 hour limit for the whole process to complete.
Thank you Selvakumar, it was very helpful.
