Hi everyone, I am new to Appian, and this is my first question! What is the difference between "Create Folder" type and "Knowledge Center" type under "New" -> "Create Folder" at Build tab of Appian Designer? How to decide which one fit better for an application? Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the Appian World, we usually create a folder of "Knowledge Center" type to save files and documents so you can share files and collaborate on them, either within a process, or through a portal page.
Simply putting, Knowledge centers can be considered as top level container which contains all the top level document folders directly. You can only add document folder in a KC while in Document Folder you can add another sub folder and documents. When you create a document folder it is mandatory to select either a parent document folder or a KC, which is not the case with KC as it is already at the top.

Perfect! You gave me exactly the information I needed and more. Thank you Sanchit.

This is not true. The Knowledge Center object should be considered as a top-level container for Folders Only. It is possible in some instances to (accidentally) move or copy documents directly into a knowledge center, however this causes undesired side-effects. But in general, it is still absolutely untrue that KC is a "type of folder" to "save files and documents".
From the Appian Developer Wrap Up: "Knowledge centers are containers for folders and their files. They can only contain document folders and documents."
Hi openidea
Create Folder:The simplest way to organize files within an application.Suitable for small sets of related files, like process templates or data tables.Doesn't offer access control or advanced features.
Knowledge Center:
Is this from ChatGPT?
IMHO, most of this post seems plausible, but when looking close is either misleading or wrong.
Hi Before Post it on, I refer chat GPT I have check it on chat GPT, and tell them to "make it in pointer" to easily understand. it's a good way to understand anyone. I am also known Chat GPT not gives proper answer. Chat GPT have only limited data about new tools, they also don't know about latest versions.
Then that is badly worded, because the implication that KCs can inherently contain files, directly, under normal circumstances, is false, regardless of what the Wrap Up says. If you can link me to where it said that, I'd like to submit feedback that they should fix it.
