What is difference between a Document Folder and a Knowledge Center?

Hi everyone, I am new to Appian, and this is my first question!  What is the difference between "Create Folder" type and "Knowledge Center" type under "New" -> "Create Folder" at Build tab of Appian Designer? How to decide which one fit better for an application?

Thanks!

we usually create a folder of "Knowledge Center" type to save files

This is not true.  The Knowledge Center object should be considered as a top-level container for Folders Only.  It is possible in some instances to (accidentally) move or copy documents directly into a knowledge center, however this causes undesired side-effects.  But in general, it is still absolutely untrue that KC is a "type of folder" to "save files and documents".
