If the smart service hasn't been deployed yet, then you just need to add the corresponding field and its setter in your smart service class. However, if this smart service has been previously deployed and you realize that it now needs more/less inputs/outputs then you will have to deprecate the previous one and deploy the new one with a different smart service key. The running instances will continue to work (but using the deprecated version), once you drag and drop the new node into your models then new instances will use that updated version.
As you can see if need to change inputs/outputs then this is considered a new smart service as explained in the documentation

Hi Eduardo, It is the Translation Keys I am interested in. I do not need to alter the name of input fields (I have already encountered and resolved that issue). I simply need to add tool tips to the current input values but I can see where the translation data sits. Thanks, James

Let's say I have a plug-in with the following key:
<appian-plugin name="Content Utilities" key="ContentUtilities">
and a smart service called:
<smart-service name="Remove Member From Folder Security" key="RemoveMemberFromFolderSecurity"
In order for Appian to be able to read the bundle you will need the following structure inside the JAR:
JAR
--> ContentUtilities
----->RemoveMemberFromFolderSecurity_en_US.properties

Is the problem that you already have this file but you need to add your input tool tips there?

I can see where I am getting confused now. The wizard for creating the intial smart service is not adding the display name or the comment to the zzz_en_US.properties or zzz.properties files in the resources package. The documentation was not clear as to exactly where this infromation should sit. Or I have simply misunderstood. I will give it a try. Thanks

That's right the wizard doesn't add this information even though it asks for it.
