Hi,
When I try to publish a portal, I am seeing the following error:
Publishing error. Could not publish. When connecting directly to an external data source you must use a data source connected system. Check the following data sources: jdbc/Appian.
Please help.

Hi Harsha,
I'm a product manager at Appian working on portals feature. I wanted to ask you which version of Appian you're on. In 23.1, we allow you to connect to record types and process models directly without needing a connected system, however, in some scenarios, users were receiving this error message. It was fixed in the hotfix that was released on March 17.
If, however, you are trying to connect to external data source, you will still need to set up a connected system object.
Hi Elizabeth,
I am working on the Appian IDP application.
I have trained it on some single-page documents, and it is perfectly working for single-page documents.
Now, I have a document that consists of some text fields and a table. The table is starting from page 1 and going up to page 2, but for this document only the single page is getting extraction for the table. I am unable to choose the table information on the following page.
Can someone else also face this problem, and do we have any solutions for it?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Ankur,
Louis Prensky or matthew.shutt should be able to help!
Thanks! I'll try to get in touch with them. I appreciate your support.
Thanks for reaching out with your use case! Today, you are not able to extract multiple table fields in a document, such as tables that appear on multiple pages, into your Appian data type. I recommend that you split the document into individual pages before uploading to IDP, extract the table on each page to the table in your data type, and then use a post-processing rule to merge the results before writing to the db. If the table has column headers on each page, IDP should be able to automatically extract it.
You can automatically split the PDF file into individual pages using the PDF Tools plugin.
Thank you for your help
