Hi,
This can be done directly within Process Model properties. Simply type a new value into the "Process Model Name" box and save - all done!
Side note, you will likely also want to change the value of the "Process Display Name" field right below that, as it is pre-populated with the process model's original name but then won't change unless you edit it. I typically change it to "=pm!name" as this will make it follow the process model's current name regardless of name changes.
Just as a side-bar here...the "Process Display Name" is what is displayed at run-time in the Process Monitor and, wherever possible, should contain a token to both disambiguate instances of the same model, and correlate with something an end-user would recognise e.g. Claim Number, Case Number, Vehicle Registration Number...so that the Support Team can find instances based upon a shared value between Users and them.
Agreed - this is fairly critical when thinking ahead to production support. It sounds like I was suggesting sidestepping that part, so good point. Often I put this off til later, which is ok as long as you remember to actually follow up on it.
Hello everyone,I have a question about the name of the process. The name of the object appears as a name in the interface tab and the only way to change it that I have seen is by changing the name of the process. With the display name it has not worked. Is there any other way to change the name of the tab?
AFAIK, there is no other way to change a process model name.
AFAIK, you can rename by the following way.
Create a new process by copying the existing process and then provide whatever new name you want, In this way, a new process model would be created using new name. After that delete the old model.
The name visible in the tab is derived from the UIT task name. Therefore, if you wish to display a different name, you can simply navigate to the General Properties of UIT and modify the Task Display Name there.
