Hello, In what case the Task stays in Accepted status after you click

Hello,
In what case the Task stays in Accepted status after you click on the Return task to all assignee link?
Following is the scenario I am facing, and I am not sure why it is behaving that way:
There is a task assigned to the group I am member of. When I accept the task, it will show an option to return the task to all assignee. When I click on that link, the task stays assigned to me with Accepted task status. I was expecting that the task would assign back to the group it was originally assigned. Please help me understand why it behaves like that.
Let me know if there is any questions.
Thanks!

I tested this example on Appian 7.9 with a simple tempo task and was not able to reproduce your results. After clicking the link, the task is reassigned to the original assignment that is set on the user task node assignment tab.

Can you tell us:
1. What version of Appian are you in?
2. What security group are you in for the process model/process?
3. What are the reassignment privileges on the task itself?

Thanks Tim for the response.
Tom, following is answers to your questions:
1. We are on Appian Cloud 7.8
2. I am a System Administrator for the process model. (Although, basic users with no permission to reassign tasks on the User Input Node observed the same behavior)
3. Reassignment privilege is User can't reassign task to anyone.

Users without permission to reassign the task should not be able to see the reassign link. Can you confirm that the basic users are not members of a group with higher privileges on the process model itself? (since that would allow them to reassign regardless). Additionally, where are you seeing that the task is still Assigned? At that point does refreshing the page update to the correct status?

Hi Tom, you are right. Users with basic permission could not see the Reassign link on the left. Actually, my issue is with the link that appears on top of the task form after you accept the task. When I click "Return task to all assignee" link, it is not assigning it to the original assignee. Is this because of the Reassign permission?
I am seeing Assigned under the Tasks tab in the Assigned to me. When it is assigned to a group, it will display group name, but after clicking the link it still shown Me as the assignee. Refreshing the page didn't alter the assignment, and in task report we created, the task status appears as accepted for that task with my username as an owner.

Do you see any errors in the logs when you click "Return task to all assignee"?

I do see following error in the log (I checked stdOut log):
ERROR com.appiancorp.uidesigner.TaskFormUiSource - Unexpected status code when attempting to reassign Task.
What does this error mean?

Can you post/attach the complete stack trace including any 'caused by' sections

Following is the only line in the log regarding the event. There is no 'caused by' for this in the log.
09:14:47,505 INFO [stdout] (ajp-/0.0.0.0:8009-51) 2015-06-10 09:14:47,505 [ajp-/0.0.0.0:8009-51] ERROR com.appiancorp.uidesigner.TaskFormUiSource - Unexpected status code when attempting to reassign Task [-536866041].

You should see more detail in your application server log. E.g. for Jboss, this is typically located at <Jboss home>/standalone/log/server.log
