My question has to do with Appian's configuration to process items from an incoming distribution list. It is my understanding that Appian will only process items if the distribution list alias has been configured on the server. If the alias does not exist, then Appian will not create an item and the e-mail will be scanned and then ignored. Since we have many teams that will add our main distribution list to other distribution lists, we end up getting important items dropped. I am wondering if there is a way to configure the utility to open up an Appian item to a default process flow when no alias configuration is present. Is that possible within Appian or does this issue need to be addressed within Outlook?...

  • Hi Jerry, it sounds like this may have to be handled in Outlook. Why not have a rule for your distribution list (that is included in other folk's distribution lists) that forwards all e-mails sent to it to a central email inbox or list? Then you can associate an Appian alias with this central email inbox. This way you don't have to worry about the difference between someone sending email directly to your list or to a superset of your list.
