If we use inline conf.content.download.inline to display a PDF on a form that a user can make changes to, is there any way - perhaps writing a custom plugin smart service - that we could save the updated PDF into Appian content without forcing the user to save it and re-upload it in a subsequent task?...

Hi Jason,
Could you save the values the user is submitting and then populate the pdf using the PDF Doc From Template Smart Service? You can then save this in to a specified directory. I believe this should satisfy your use case without having to write a new plugin.

Actually, our use case is to have the user digitally sign the PDF while it is displayed inline.

Are there no options? I understand this won't be possible completely out of the box. Digital signatures are an important requirement for us. We would be willing to investigate writing custom plugins or using javascript.

Hi Jason, the requirement at the most basic level seems to be to digitally sign PDF documents. You can use the Sign PDF Document smart service to achieve this.
I don't believe there is a supported entry point for customizing the pdf form interface to allow for inline signing, but others may be able to chime in.

Is there any documentation for the Sign PDF Document shared component plugin? We have certain security restrictions about how we can handle a security certificate, we cannot at any time upload it to the application server - we can only upload the signed PDF.
Currently we are testing out the ability to show the PDF on a form using inline and advanced form utilities, and use Adobe reader extensions to digitally sign it. But the issue is that a user needs to save the pdf, and then upload it in a separate step for it to be updated in Appian.

Mike, I looked at the Record but it didn't include any documentation on how to use the plugin beyond a link to Adobe about digital signatures. Either way, we're pretty much certain this approach won't fit our requirements.
