In 22.3 the "global search bar" has been centralized somewhat and pinned to the top bar of /Design, with added functionality, which is neat.
However the "floating" bar invoked by pressing CTRL-Space is no longer "floating", meaning the CTRL-Space hotkey no longer works at all in a very important (to me, at least) use case: during pop-up dialogs (eg the deployment pop-up, missing precedents, etc).
The way it worked before: even if I have a missing precedent checker or deployment window open, but still want to search for and/or open some object, I could just hit CTRL-Space and search:(from 22.2)
Meanwhile, after upgrading to 22.3, we can see the "search objects" bar hanging out in the background but being completely useless even if I spam the CTRL-Space hotkey:
I can't speak for others here, but I estimate that I personally used this functionality very often to look up and/or open objects I need even when in the middle of a pop-up dialog I don't want to interrupt (or sometimes to check for something that I think should be included in it, etc).
CLARIFYING EDIT: the CTRL-Space search STILL DOES WORK (just... moved slightly, not "floating", but with some nice details added) when not obstructed by a pop-up dialog (like the Missing Precedents checker or the Deployment Sequence).

As an Apple fanboy, I loved the floating search bar. Please bring it back!
No CTRL+Space search in 22.3?? Well that is a bummer, I use this daily also :(
One of my biggest use cases is quick checks during meetings, "what is the division logic on that approval", "is the threshold 25 or 30k for that approval" etc. CRTL+Space, and I have the answer within seconds. I will look less smart without this feature...
Got my vote to bring it back!

Well, that's not what I said, sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
To be clear: It just no longer functions as a "floating" search bar, and thus doesn't work at all when obstructed by one of the pop-up mechanisms I specifically mentioned in my post. But at other times it works fine - but the specific mechanic has been tweaked such that the always-shown search bar is focused when the user presses CTRL-Space. In those cases the overall functionality remains basically unchanged (just ... moved a bit. and with some nice extra detail added).

Sorry, gotcha, "..the CTRL-Space hotkey no longer works at all [in some situations]". At any rate, the best part about CTRL+Space is that it works always! (don't have a 22.3 environment here to test on)

Yeah, i'm missing this at the moment. I always liked not having to cancel out of whatever I was in the middle of doing in order to search for and/or open an object (i.e. the whole point of this post lol)
Oof, I just realized another place this prevents global searching is while using the All Process Errors pop-up, which I sometimes spend a lot of time on
+1 (CFBR)
I'm finding this to be a surprisingly frequent "missed feature" - moreso than I even initially expected - lots of different places where I was accustomed to using it where it's now blocked by having some sort of pop-up interface in the way.
Disappointed to note that this has gone unchanged in 22.4 - I'm not clear whether anyone at Appian has seen / cares about the pretty unanimous feedback generated on this post
Hi Mike, thank you for the feedback regarding the search bar. We've heard the similar feedback from other and we are actively looking into restoring access to global search in dialog boxes (Use Case #5553).
We are also looking into other enhancements such as retaining the global search results when you click out of the search bar and retaining global search after you open a new object.
In addition to the global search anywhere, is that something you would find helpful?
Thanks!
