Question regarding interfaces and loading documents into a grid

Hi, I have an Interface and it displays a list of documents to be loaded in a grid. Each row will have a uplaod document (a!fileUploadField) to be uploaded. When the document is uploaded. I can see the document and also if i have selected wrong document i can click on cancel and upload the new document at same time. Once i have submitted and If i again come to this Documents screen, I am not able to find a way to remove the previous document which was uploaded and upload the new one. Is there a way that i can delete only that document and not the complete row. If yes, please suggest and if no what should be the other approach to achieve this.

Gaurav, when you say come back to this screen, do you mean you have submitted it and the documents have been saved to permanent storage? Also are the documents in question the links shown in the "Uploaded Document" column?

This is possible but not easy to implement. You can add an icon to the row with a dynamicLink that when clicked, deletes the document using a!deleteDocument() and then switches the link to an uploadField. Is this idea something you can start with?

@Gaurav could you not simply use the file upload component in the upper grid as well? It might not look pretty but I believe you would be able to remove the files using this OOTB functionality. Another way with a bit more complexity but not changing the number of columns, would be to use an array of rich text items in that column, and have an "X" to remove the document by saving null into that variable.

The only caveat is that both of these methods will not actually remove the document from the file server (that will have to be done via process), it will simply remove the document IDs from the rule input.

@Matt: Well both the grids have upload document in the rows. The thing is upper grid is mandatory and the lower one is Optional. When i am done with Mandatory grid, i can go to home screen and from there i can come back and upload the optional and if required change the mandatory documents. Now the problem i am facing is if i have already submitted/uploaded mandatory document, and if i again come to this screen, i can see the uploaded documents but i am not able to replace them.

Ah okay, so I think option two, which involves having a bit of a dynamic component, would be necessary.

The structure would be:
if( rule!APN_isBlank(ri!document),/*If the document is cleared out, a file upload field should be shown*/
a!fileUploadField(),/*This is for uploading a new file*/
a!richTextDisplayField( /*Otherwise show the document*/
...
value:{
a!richTextItem(
...a!documentLink()),/*document download link*/
a!richTextItem(
...a!dynamicLink( a!save(ri!document,null)) /*This is for removing the document*/

Or adding a column like Stefan said would also work (where a user could remove the documents through that method).

@Matt: Thanks Matt. One more thing, i have a temporary document ID of the document and i am showing it in a link. How can i check whether it is a temp document ID or correct ID of the document. I tried using fn!isobjectexists("Document", ******) but it shows true for temporary ID as well. You got any idea.

Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of is storing the list of documents previously stored in a local variable or a rule input (a rule input would allow navigation away without submitting) and then a comparison of those stored documents with the rule input(s) for the CDT list would allow you to tell if a document was permanently stored or temporarily stored. Maintaining a local!/ri!storedDocumentList should do the trick.
