We upgraded to Appian 7.7 from 7.3 and after the upgrade users are saying that they are not getting the alerts they used to earlier.
For example: if a comment is added to a News Feed from News tab, users used to get alerts but it has stopped after the upgrade.
How do we configure it? Is it the same one like, configuring the My alerts configuration in apps portal?

Thanks for the reply Abhi.
My question was more around that is there any way to set it for all the users. As per the discussion, it seems like earlier it was a default setting. If I understood it correctly, we cannot ask every user to go and set their alert settings. Is there any way to set it default as it was earlier as nothing was configured in the older version and the default settings were used, which used to send the alerts on the subscribed news feed.

Are you able to receive any emails at all after the migration? If not, then it could indicate a problem with the email server configuration.

You could also check the application server log for any related errors

Firstly please check your email server setting and confirm if you can send emails from sendEmail node of any email from system by verifying the below properties.conf.mailhandler.ntf_sndr_addr
conf.mailhandler.email.domain
conf.mailhandler.mail.smtp.host

Its just that users are not getting the alert which they used to receive earlier, mainly around, if someone has posted a comment in the feed/post, the subscribed users of that feed used to get alert messages that a comment has been posted by xyz user...which was the default setting in older version. In my views, it seems like it does not come by default and user has to set his alert settings by going to apps -> alerts settings....please let me know if my understanding is wrong

I will need to ask system admin for that, I am not sure if they will share the entire properties file, is there any specific properties related with this setting? Can I directly ask them to share those properties instead of the entire file?

The documentation link describes the list of notification settings that can be set in custom.properties -
forum.appian.com/.../Configuring_Notifications.html
Have your sysadmin look in custom.properties for the settings beginning with "server.conf.notifications.tempo..." to see if any of them have been set to NEVER. Note that the default value for these settings is IMMEDIATE.
