Question

Locating exported package/zip on development server

Hi all,

We're currently working with the AVM and AIM plugins together with a deployment pipeline in order to automate our deployments. We're looking into making the flow from "Export application" --> download .zip --> "copy to correct auto-deployment folder with folder listener" a bit more automated, as it currently requires developers to login to the Linux server where the Appian designer is installed.

When you click "Export application", is the resulting .zip directly available on the development (Linux) server in question? If so, where? Or is it only available via the "Download package"?

May I ask why you do not use the new DevOps features in Appian?

What features are you referring to specifically? We already follow (most of) the steps as shown in the AVM and AIM, with a folder listener setup. Searching on "DevOps with Appian" ultimately led me to the same place we initially grabbed this setup from.

    https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/20.4/deploying-applications.html#direct-deployment

We have great success at multiple clients with this methodology.

No other replies to this from Appian itself?

I'm doubtful that Appian will support/assist with direct access to exports or other documents via the server file structure.

While there may be reasons behind your company policy, it unfortunately sounds like something outdated that actually adds risk instead of mitigating it.
