New to Appian

As far as I can tell, I have followed the instructions to the letter. But my results are not the data from the Vehicle record. In fact, when I went and looked at "W0420AA_QR_getVehicle" and tested the inputs, I found that the result is always an ID or an array of IDs, never the record data. What did I miss? What am I doing wrong?

Good evening, I have been going through the developer learning path.  On the course to start developing an application as a step by step, I appear to be missing the main tutorial application that is referenced in the guide (acme-sport-equipment-rental).  I see the solution, but not the practice app.  Any thoughts or guidance would be great.  Thanks.

I have been trying to go through "Appian Developer" learning path. However, it appears that my Appian Community Edition environment is not set up correctly. I discovered this when I got to "Design Record Types: Model and Configure Your Data". The sample applications are missing. So I tried to create my own app as a way to keep moving forward. However, when the AI wizard arrived at the "Data" stage, there were no data sources available.  I am just stuck and frustrated, and I feel like I am being ignored. NOTE: I have already reached out to Appian Academy <training@appian.com> and Appian Community Edition <communityedition@appian.com> last Wednesday. But I have only received automated responses.

I am currently working through the Appian developer learning list, and have come to the Visualize Your Data: Reports and Dashboards lesson (https://academy.appian.com/#/online-courses/816ad062-560d-4de5-a764-531290a3e562), however there appears to be no content whatsoever. Appreciate this could be a issue specific to me, however the reviews are all very negative so figured it may not be. If anyone is able to confirm the issue/let me know where to raise it to, that would be perfect .

I am using Community Edition and  following the Appian Developer path. In for Step-By-Step # 5 I encounter a problem with selecting the database for the "Vehicle" Record Type. I followed all the steps1-4 and facing above change in Step 5. Appreciate any help/suggestions 

Hi all, I've started the new developer learning path which launched 2 days ago. When I attempt to navigate the ACME SPORT EQUIPMENT RENTAL SOLUTION application I get the following error: "Record type is marked as synced, but its data has not yet been synced or its existing synced data has been invalidated. Contact your system administrator"I have gone in and checked this record type specifically and others related to it and they all have the same issue. The sync history shows a failure and I am unable to run a manual FULL SYNC. Attempting to change the data source on the record type I get the following error: "The data source cannot be reached or its configuration is invalid. Please contact your system administrator."I have reached out to communityedition@appian.com and am awaiting a response. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or if I find a solution I'll come back here to post my progress in case it helps anyone in the future.

When I go to the reference app and want to see record type source configuration I get: "The data source cannot be reached or its configuration is invalid. Please contact your system administrator." I am using us.appian.community edition. Could you please let me know how to resolve this issue? thank you.

Hello guys, I failed for the developer exam for the second time now. I studied for the Appian developer test for 180 hours, but i still failed the exam TWICE now. I'am lost i feel like i know everything and I felt like my answer wads also right . Hi All, I am working on an Expense Reimbursement System POC in Appian. We have three different user roles: Employee, Manager, and Finance Team, each with separate interfaces. I need to implement an AI chatbot in all three interfaces that can answer user questions based on claim data. What is the best approach to design and integrate role-specific chatbots in Appian? Should each interface have a separate chatbot configuration, or can we reuse a single chatbot with dynamic context? Hi Team, We have a scenario where Process Model 1 calls Sub‑Process Model 2 in synchronous mode. Sub‑Process Model 2 contains Process 2.1 and Process 2.2.Normally, these complete within expected time, but if Process Model 2 runs longer than 15 minutes, we want to:- Terminate Sub‑Process Model 2.- Mark it as completed so it doesn’t remain in an in‑progress state. Essentially:- Process Model 1 (synchronous) → Process Model 2.1 & 2.2.- If execution exceeds 15 minutes, enforce a timeout, terminate, and mark complete. Question to the Community:- What is the recommended way to implement this timeout/termination logic in Appian?- Is there a best practice for handling long‑running synchronous sub‑processes (e.g., timers, escalation paths, or design patterns)?Error "The amount of time allocated for the completion of an unattended activity was insufficient to allow the activity to complete."

Hi Team, Currently we are reading excel but due to confidential file it is throwing below error. Expression evaluation error at function 'readexcelsheetpaging': org.apache.pol.openxml4j.exceptions.OLE2NotOfficexmlFileException. The supplied data appears to be in the OLE2 Format. You are calling the part of POI that deals with OOXML (Office Open XML) Documents. You need to call a different part of POI to process this data (eg HSSF Instead of XSSF) Can anyone help on this to which function help to check format in excel  Thanks  Divya 

Hey all, new Appian developer here! From what I have learned so far, Appian dev teams don't usually follow the branch->merge workflow, but rather work inside the single dev environment. I have no problems with this system and think it is the ideal approach for 99% of cases. However, in a situation like a refactor, where you are changing some of the architecture and breaking a few parts of the system as a side effect, I can see how branching off to make these changes would be safer, cleaner, and not prohibit other developers who need to use the parts that are being changed.Is there any version control (or hacky workaround) that could solve this in these rare situations? Hi all, I had just been researching on the different character limits for data types. So from my understanding of text data type, these are the following limits. Text - 255 characters Long Text - 4000 characters Extra Long Text - 64000 characters  To my knowledge these are the 3 available options for any VARCHAR in record types, I was just wondering if this information is correct, wanting clarification please.  Couldn't really find a clear answer on the limits. Note: I believe that for record types, there's a limitation for Extra Long Text, limited to only 3 fields within a record type that's allowed to have the Extra Long Text data type.

Hi, I'm following the exercise in the attached PDF, but I'm getting the following error: "Reply-To email did not resolve to a valid email address." I've repeated the steps several times but I can't figure out what might be causing it. Since I'm new to Appian, I'm also not very familiar yet with diagnosing or resolving these kinds of errors. Hi Everyone, I am learning Appian and working on a simple interface form. While submitting the form, I am getting the following error: "A button component must not contain both a 'recaptchaSaveInto' and a 'saveInto' parameter." I tried removing some parameters but the error still appears. Can someone explain why we cannot use both saveInto and recaptchaSaveInto in the same button and what is the correct way to handle this? Any guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

Hi, I'm new to the Appian. I'm unable to see the 'New Data table' option as mentioned in this documentation: Create-record-data-source.html  So, I Selected Database option and I'm unable to proceed after that. No options provided here to select. Help me resolve this and provide me the steps to create an database and make connection to the interface. Share any documentation URL or online course for this.

Hi, I am new to Appian-Locust, I have installed Appian Locust, executed a login script for Appian URL and I am getting this exception "Login unsuccessful, no multipart cookie found, only found <RequestsCookieJar[<Cookie JSESSIONID....". I checked my credentials and they are working fine when login manually. I have tried executing the same Appian URL via generic Locust and there is no such exception shown. Can anyone help here.
