Setting up OpenID - group object location?

Hi all,

I'm exploring OpenID Connect to use as a SSO. I'm following these links for set up https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/23.1/OpenID_Connect_User_Authentication.html and https://tony-marziano.medium.com/walkthrough-google-openid-connection-with-appian-23-1-a397b67611e4

In the field for Authentication Group, I obviously need to specify an existing group object. My question, do I first need to create a new application, ie: OIDC, and in that application create the group? Or is there some other location for that group to reside?
