KB-1364 InvalidSupervisorException thrown when editing a user

Symptoms

When attempting to edit a user's information, the following error is observed:

Warning The system has encountered a problem We’re sorry! A problem occurred while processing your last request.

In the application server log, the following error is printed:

com.appiancorp.suiteapi.common.exceptions.InvalidSupervisorException: [InvalidSupervisorException]

Cause

This may occur if the user listed as the user's supervisor is deactivated or not properly synced during the LDAP sync process.

Action

Reactivate the supervisor user or manually sync the user prior to performing any changes on the original user's record. If you wish for the supervisor user to longer be referenced, change the supervisor on the original user's record prior to deactivating or otherwise removing the user.
