KB-1387 Packet for query is too large

Symptoms

The following error is printed to the application server log every five minutes:

org.hibernate.util.JDBCExceptionReporter - Packet for query is too large (n > 4194304). You can change this value on the server by setting the max_allowed_packet' variable.

Cause

Data in the SAIL context is getting stored in the application server because there is too much data to be temporarily stored in the database. There is no user-detectable impact to this.

Action

There is no functional impact of this error. This error is resolved with an application server restart.
