Question

Appian 26.6 – Is Show/Hide Password Supported on the Native Login Page?

Hello Appian Community,

I'm currently investigating password visibility behavior in an Appian Cloud environment running version 26.6.

The native Appian username/password login page displays a masked password field, but there is no visible eye icon or Show/Hide Password option.

Interestingly, the password visibility option appears to be available during the password reset/change workflow, creating an inconsistent user experience.

I reviewed the following areas in the Administration Console:

  • Authentication → Sign-In Page: Provides identity provider configuration, but no password visibility setting.

  • Branding → Sign-In and Tempo: Provides logo and appearance customization, but no password visibility setting.

I would appreciate clarification on the following:

  1. Does Appian 26.6 support a native Show/Hide Password toggle on the initial login screen?

  2. Is there a supported configuration or feature flag to enable this functionality?

  3. Why might password visibility be available during password reset/change but not during initial login?

  4. If the functionality is currently unsupported, is there an existing enhancement request or recommended alternative?

  5. Can this be addressed without replacing or modifying Appian's native authentication components?

I'm particularly interested in a supported, upgrade-safe solution that preserves the platform's authentication security and standard behavior.

Thank you in advance for your guidance!

    1. Not supported at the moment AFAIK.
    2. Not aware of any.
    3. I don’t think it was intentional.
    4. I would recommend that you request an enhancement via a support ticket.
    5. I don’t think this can be addressed otherwise.
