How to configure search in grid

I have two drop down filter and from  date and to date field . I need to configure search button so that based on it data come in grid. Can someone help with this. Data is coming from database and have configured the grid but the search button is not working. Can someone help or provide relevant link. Thanks

    Hi Mike I know this way but as per my user story.. I am getting data from view(displaying in grid) and filter options am getting from other data base. And date from and date to is not available anywhere.. Can you tell how to link these and perform search

      I'm still not clear what you're actually trying to accomplish.  I'm not sure what "filter options getting from other data base" means, or "date from and date to is not available".

      To simplify a bit, what do you already have working?  Have you successfully populated a grid on-form with your view data?
