Question

How to install a local developer version of Appian and/or set up my cloud version so I can test plugins?

Hi.

I'm interested in creating a plugin for Appian. As per the developer guide I need to set up a developer instance so I can build, test and iterate on my design before it is reviewed.

When trying to set up the developer instance I am running into a few problems.

  1. When looking at the MySQL set up and the JConnect, the MySQL links are pointing towards a general home page. I can navigate to find the MySQL versions but it is not clear which versions are required.
  2. More importantly when I navigate to download an Appian installer, all the versions state "Installers Not Available". What is the most recent version which I can install?

Thanks in advance.

Jonathan

    1. https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/23.3/System_Requirements.html#databases

    https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/c-j/

You want to use "platform independant" and download the zip/tar file. Inside, you will find the jar file inside the zip. You need to put the .jar file in the tomcat/lib directory.

    2. Probably need to contact Appian to get access to the installers.
