smart email service and encryption

Hi,

I saw that it is not possible to encrypt an email through the appian smart email service. Although I believe I know the answer to the next question, I would like to ask. is it possible for appian to encrypt an attachment in a zip file and then send it? can it send attachments? 

or I need to encrypt the file on my own and then attach it to the email and send it?
