Question

Which Appian Features Are Unavailable When Installing on Self-Managed environments?

Hi Community,

I am considering installing Appian in Self-Managed environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) instead of using Appian Cloud. I would like to know which features are not available in Self-Managed environments.

I have learned that AI capabilities, Process HQ, and Portals cannot be used in Self-Managed environments. However, are there any other features or functionalities that are also unavailable or restricted compared to Appian Cloud?

I would appreciate any insights or official references regarding the limitations of installing Appian on AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello [mention:642652d437024e13859a5d0338714343:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] ,

1. You will not have automatic updates and patches which are available on Appian Cloud.

2. Also the High-availability and disaster recovery configurations are to be done manually.

May be others can add more points.

I believe maintaining sso might be also complex. It should maintained by yourself .

In Appian Cloud, Appian provides a managed MariaDB database, but in Self-Managed, you must set up and manage your own database (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
