KB-1657 Opening or creating applications takes about 2 minutes

Symptoms

• Opening or creating an application always takes about 2 minutes to complete regardless of application size.
• Adding an item to a patch times out.

Cause

There is a communication issue between the application server and the Appian data server, which causes the functionality that relies on the data server to time out after roughly 2 minutes.

Action

1. Verify that the Appian data server is running.
2. Verify that Appian data server is configured correctly in the application server's appian-topology.xml with the correct hostname and port.
3. Check if the application server can reach the Appian data server.

This article applies to Appian version 18.1 and later.
