Question

Docx Services missing internationalization bundle for en_US

When deploying the Docx Services plugin to our US-based Appian Cloud I’m receiving the following error:

Plug-in com.synechron.plugins.docxservices Module docx-servicesV1 is missing the following internationalization bundle(s) for Locale en_US: [com.synechron.plugins.docxservices.docx-servicesV1] (APNX-1-4200-000)

I see that there is a docx-servicesV1_en_GB.properties resource file in the JAR but not one for en_US.  Do we need to contact the developer (Synechron) to see if they can make this quick change or are there other options to allow us to successfully deploy to the cloud?  If we need to contact Synechron does anyone know a resource to contact?

Does the plugin still deploy? Did you try to modify the plugin jar copying the en_GB file to en_US?

It fails to deploy.  When I noticed the missing en_US file I tried modifying the jar and adding en_US properties file but Appian rejected it as an unapproved plugin.  If it was on-prem it wouldn’t be an issue, but it’s cloud so it has to be approved.  I could go through the approval process but I’m pretty sure I would need to need to change the manifest because Appian isn’t going to like a different vendor creating a new version of an existing plugin without changing plugin name, key, vendor name…  Not to mention that the namespace, classnames and JAR name would still be the original vendor and that would take a little more work to change.

I understand. Did you try to use a different plugin?

I would suggest that you contact the author of the plugin.

What is the best way to do that?  Other than “Synechron” - which is a huge global company - there are no contact links, developer names, email addresses on the AppMarket plugin page nor plugin documentation.  Appian community doesn’t seem to have a directory that I could use to look up Synechron developers that are on community.  I was trying to avoid going through a generic contact form on Synechron’s web site or random web searches for Synechron Appian developers.  If I open an Appian support ticket would they be able to give me contact information for the Appian developer that submitted the plugin for approval or would that be a waste of time?

Yes - in that case, I would recommend contacting support to get the email of the author.

Raise Report Issue on the AppMarket listing plus an Appian Support case to get Synechron to ship an en_US build, and in the meantime use an Appian-authored alternative like Advanced Document Templating.
