Invoke custom plugin function

Hi

I have UI screen interrace which consist of custom plugin and Appian SAIL component (button).

Is there a way to pass event to plugin in response to outside UI events. I want to invoke a function inside my custom plugin when submit button is clicked.

How can I archive this?
