Any service/function for setting task owner?

Hi,

My customer is going to use Appian solely as process engine, all the UI work is made outside Appian.

So, they have people developping each task interface on angular, I do not agree with that, but they already made their decission. 

Well, my concern know is find a way to track in appian the fact that a particular user accepts a task. I've tried with reassign smart service but it does not set task owner, it just set assignee task property.

Is there any other service or plugin that allows me to make a webApi to set task owner?

    Why bothering with tasks when there is no UI? I think that you would need to use Appian in a very different way.

    I am using Appian in a veeeeery different way, believe me.

    But it is not my decission.

    There is UI but it is outside Appian, the process itself is designed in and conducted by Appian.

    So, does such a service exist to allow me build a web api for setting task owner?

    Not that I am aware. But, I am still curious. What do you mean with "task" in such a interesting scenario. A user input task?
