What exactly do you mean with "open a document in appian"? Please explain the planned UX in detail.

There isn't really such a thing in Appian as linking externally to "open a specific document".  If you're trying to send the document itself, you can always attach it to the email.  If the email recipient is an Appian user in your environment, you could also consider assigning them a task where they can click a download link and/or open a document preview field (for supported document types).

Hi [mention:838ca6e2d25b4289abe2ba08bdf98795:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05]  Let me phrase what i understood is correct? You are looking for document url, to send the document url in an email template, So if user clicks on the document url it should open  the document? Is that this the requirement? Correct me If I am wrong.

    This is correct

This is what attachment is for.  You haven't really given detail as to why attaching the document to the email is insufficient.

You just want to open the document for viewing it or you want it to be downloaded?

    March 21, 2024

    just to view it

Please ignore my previous answer. I agree with what Stefan has mentioned so have updated this reply.

You are aware that portals are public and providing a generic interface that could expose any document will probably get you intro an argument with your CISO?
